Browser software data

The Internet is a global environment of electronic communication. Standardized protocols have been developed to provide this for all devices connected to the Internet. A protocol in the information technology context regulates the electronic communication between the computers involved and is responsible, among other things, for the security of this communication. Furthermore, your browser software transmits various information about this and the operating system of the device you are using. The following incomplete list is intended to give you an impression of the information transmitted:

  • Date and time of access
  • IP address (e.g. 192.168.0.2)
  • Location generated from the IP address (e.g. Frankfurt)
  • Internet service provider derived from the IP address (e.g. Deutsche Telekom AG)
  • Possibility of storing cookies and retrieving them
  • Time length of the HTTP session
  • The referrer entry, i.e. the website from which the currently loaded website was accessed
  • The user agent, i.e. information about the system you are using (e.g. Mozilla/5.0 (Windows NT 6.1; rv:52.0) Gecko/20100101 Firefox/52.0)
  • The language setting (e.g. de-de)
  • Supported file types (e.g. text/html,application/xhtml+xml,application/xml;q=0.9,/;q=0.8)
  • The coding
  • Setting the Do-Not-Track option
  • The setting for activating JavaScript
  • The size of the inner display area of the browser software
  • The option to reload fonts

Some of this data is stored on tetraeder’s servers for the purpose of logging tetraeder’s services. This data is stored in log files and analyzed for statistical purposes. The log files also serve to protect tetraeder’s servers against unauthorized access and manipulation as well as deletion or entry of data. The log files are deleted from tetraeder’s servers after 30 days.

Collection and processing of personal data and their purpose

Personal data is all information about your identity, such as your name, your e-mail address, your IP address or your postal address in connection with your name.

IP addresses represent technical personal data. When you visit the tetraeder service, the IP address is already transmitted and processed. IP addresses are required for the transmission of data to you. Furthermore, tetraeder uses IP addresses to protect its own services against possible unauthorized use of tetraeder’s services and to generate statistics.

Other processed data, which is not personally identifiable, includes information and settings of the browser used or the screen resolution of the device.

Use and disclosure of personal data in general

Data will not be transferred to third parties unless this is regulated on the basis of a contract, consent or implementation provisions of orders in accordance with tetraeder’s obligation. Another reason is a court order to disclose the data. Affiliated companies of tetraeder within the meaning of Section 15 of the German Stock Corporation Act (AktG) are not to be regarded as third parties within the scope of this Privacy Policy.

Objection to advertising

If you have consented to communication via advertising, you always have the right to object to the further use of your data for advertising. To do so, please use the link provided in the respective e-mail or send an e-mail to datenschutz@tetraeder.com.

Data security and storage

tetraeder takes precautions to protect your personal data from loss, destruction, falsification, manipulation and unauthorized access. The statutory data protection regulations of the Federal Republic of Germany are of course observed.

Transmission of data via the Internet

By using this service or communicating with tetraeder via electronic contact forms, you agree to the non-encrypted transmission of all data. Due to the inherent structure and mode of operation of the Internet, there may be possible intermediate steps in the transmission of data. Any data transmission initiated is at your own risk. This only applies if tetraeder offers you an encrypted transmission path. tetraeder will always try to offer this transmission path and use current technologies to secure the transmission of data in the best possible way.

Links to other websites

The web pages of this service may contain cross-references (so-called “links”) to other services within and outside tetraeder. This data protection declaration does not extend to these links. Please inform yourself separately about the data protection notices of the respective links. tetraeder attempts to check the service for possible civil or criminal content when the cross-reference is first provided. However, tetraeder cannot constantly check these cross-referenced services for changes and therefore accepts no responsibility for their content. The respective provider of the service is solely liable for illegal, incorrect or incomplete content and in particular for damages resulting from the use or non-use of third-party information.

Use of services by children

tetraeder encourages all parents and guardians to instruct their children in the safe and responsible use of personal data on the Internet. Children should not transmit any personal data to the tetraeder website without the consent of their parents or guardians. tetraeder ensures that it does not knowingly collect personal data from children, use it in any way or disclose it to third parties without authorization. tetraeder provides parents with the right to information about the personal data collected from their children if the children do not have full legal capacity. You can exercise this right by exercising your right to information.

Cooperation with server infrastructure providers

In order to ensure the availability of tetraeder’s services, tetraeder cooperates with a server infrastructure provider, Hetzner Online GmbH. Hetzner Online GmbH, located at Industriestr. 25, 91710, Gunzenhausen, Germany, has entered into a service agreement with tetraeder for the storage and processing of data from tetraeder’s business activities. The data is protected against loss, misuse and unauthorized or unauthorized access, disclosure, modification or deletion. tetraeder logs access, collects access passwords and encrypts data, provided this does not fundamentally impair tetraeder’s services.

Your rights under the GDPR

If your personal data is processed by tetraeder, you are a data subject in accordance with the GDPR. This results in the following rights for you:

Right to information

You are entitled to know whether and how tetraeder processes and uses your personal data. In addition, you may request information on the following points:

  • What tetraeder processes the data for
  • Which data is processed
  • To whom the data is disclosed

Right to rectification

If your personal data is incorrect, you have the right to ask tetraeder to correct this data.

Right to restriction of processing

You can request the restriction of the processing of your personal data under the following circumstances:

  • If you dispute the accuracy of your personal data for a period of time that enables tetraeder to verify it
  • If the processing is not lawful and you do not request erasure, but merely a restriction of use
  • Insofar as tetraeder no longer needs the corresponding data for the processing purposes, but they are used for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims
  • If you have objected to the processing, see right of objection below, but it is not yet clear whether tetraeder’s legitimate reasons outweigh your reasons

If the processing of your personal data is restricted, this data may only be processed with your consent or for the establishment, exercise or defense of legal claims, for the protection of the rights of another natural or legal person or for reasons of important public interest of the European Union or of a Member State.

Right to erasure (right to be forgotten)

If one of the following reasons applies to you, you have the right to demand from tetraeder that your personal data be deleted immediately:

  • The corresponding data are no longer necessary for the purposes for which they were processed
  • You withdraw your consent on which the processing is based in accordance with the GDPR or there is no legal basis for the processing
  • There are no overriding legitimate grounds for the processing or you object to the processing
  • Your personal data has been processed unlawfully
  • According to German or European Union law, the deletion of data is a legal obligation
  • Your personal data was collected in relation to information society services offered in accordance with Art. 8 (1) GDPR

The information about the deletion of your data must also be passed on to the third parties involved if the data has been published. At the same time, you have the right to be informed about these bodies.

However, there are exceptional circumstances in which there is no right to erasure of personal data. Circumstances that override this right are given if the data:

  • To exercise the right to freedom of expression and information
  • Necessary for compliance with a legal obligation in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority vested in tetraeder
  • In the public interest for archiving purposes, scientific or historical research purposes or for statistical purposes or in the field of public health
  • Necessary for the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims

Right to data portability

You can request personal data provided by you from tetraeder at any time. tetraeder must then transmit the data to you in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format. You also have the right to transmit this data to another controller without hindrance from tetraeder, where this is based on consent or on a contract and is carried out by automated means.

Where technically feasible, in exercising your right to data portability, you may request that tetraeder transmit the personal data directly to another controller. The exercise of this right does not affect the right to erasure. The right to data portability does not apply to data processing that is necessary for the performance of a task assigned to tetraeder, in the public interest or in the exercise of official authority.

Right of objection

You have the right to object at any time to the processing of personal data concerning you. tetraeder will no longer process the personal data unless there are compelling legitimate grounds for the processing. A further reason for refusing the objection may be the assertion, exercise or defense of legal claims.

If your personal data is used for direct marketing purposes, you have the right to object to this processing. This also applies to profiling insofar as it is associated with direct advertising. If you object to this use of your personal data, it will no longer be processed for these purposes.

Right to revoke the declaration of consent under data protection law

You have the right to revoke your declaration of consent under data protection law at any time. The lawfulness of the processing carried out up to the point of withdrawal remains unaffected.

Right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority

As a data subject, you have the right to lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority if you believe that the processing of your personal data violates the GDPR.

Web analysis

A web analysis of the service provided here takes place. This ensures the provision of the tetraeder service and prevents misuse of our services. The data and protocols of the web server are examined and treated accordingly. This applies in particular to an extremely high rate of requests from an IP address and the respective blocking of Internet services that are not provided.

Use of the user’s memory

Due to the way in which browser software and the Internet generally work and are implemented, data from the tetraeder service is stored on your system. This behavior is generally referred to as cache storage and enables the rapid availability of certain data, in particular image tiles for map displays or larger image files. Please note that it is possible to deactivate this behavior in the browser software. For further information, please use the help function of your browser software.

The data stored on your system is still subject to the copyright of the respective owners. You are therefore not entitled to use, store or process the data for commercial purposes without the permission of tetraeder or another copyright holder.
